Zero Requiem: Lelouch's Immortality

I know many of you have watched Code Geass R2 until the end. Honestly, I only watched the ending of it for three times. I stopped watching R2 on Episode 11 because I did not like what was happening in the story. I skipped until Episode 25 then watch it's ending and made myself cry.

There were a lot of speculations that Lelouch was still alive but there were no facts to support it. The only thing that the viewers hold on was C.C.'s last dialouge, "Neh, Lelouch?" then C.C. looked above (which where the driver was). So I tried watching Code Geass R2 this morning and started it where I left off - episode 11. After watching, I came to a conclusion that Lelouch is indeed alive and if I have a correct understanding, immortal.

C.C.'s Life: The Immortal Witch

There was this episode where C.C.'s life was told. We all know that C.C is immortal but how did she become one?

I don't want to tackle the whole episode here because it's too long and I don't have much patience to type it. Let me summarize how did C.C become immortal. C.C. was a slave girl. Then she was found by a sister. C.C. made a pact to the sister and C.C was given the power Geass. After a long period of time, C.C. got bored and asked what was the condition of the pact. The sister told her that she (C.C.) should give the sister her desire, that is to die. In order to do that, C.C.'s Geass should be more powerful than the sister's Geass. So indeed C.C's Geass became powerful enough to kill the sister. That was when she became immortal.

V.V. and Charles' Immortality

As far as I know, V.V. was the immortal one and Charles' was not (correct me if I am wrong here). In the later episode of R2, we saw V.V. died after his battle with Lelouch. How did he die?

It was because of the code. I don't know exactly what that code was but when C.C. arrived at the scene, she asked V.V. why did he gave Charles his code, V.V. died without answering. In my opinion, the code that was given to Charles was immortality. As far as I can remember, it was at that time when Lelouch was brought inside the World of C that Charles only became immortal (because of the code given by V.V).

Charles' Death: Overpowered by Zero

Okay, so Charles became immortal, but how did Lelouch overpower Charles? This will bring us back to C.C gaining the power of immortality. It is the same explanation. We know that Lelouch got another Geass in his right eye inside the World of C. So what could be more powerful than two Geass? Plus given the fact that they were in the "gods" world, "gods" apporved of Lelouch's wish not to stop time, and C.C. sided with Lelouch, it was indeed possible to kill Charles.

Lelouch Gaining Immortality

This is where my personal opinion comes in. I am warning you that I am only making a conclusion here based on the facts given above.

The only reason why I concluded that Lelouch was immortal because:

--> Geass gave him immortality. We knew that the condition of the immortal sister to die was being killed by a more powerful Geass. After C.C. succeeded in killing the sister, she obtained the sister's immortality. It was the same as when Lelouch killed his father Charles.

The Diagram:

Sister's Geass was overpowered by C.C. - thus obtaining the sister's immortality,
V.V's Geass was overpowered by Charles' - thus obtaining V.V's immortality, (it was actually given by V.V. but still, Charles' Geass was powerful)
Charles' Geass was overpowered by Lelouch - thus obtaining Charles' immortality.

This is just my opinion based on the facts given.

Lelouch Vi Britannia's Death: Is it True?

I strongly agree that Lelouch Vi Britannia died after Zero stabbed him. Okay, so now my efforts above explaining that Lelouch is indeed immortal was negated by my agreement that Lelouch Vi Britannia died. Let me explain why. This is just my opinion.

:The Purpose of Zero Requiem:

From the beginning of Code Geass, Lelouch said that his life was a lie, and his name was a lie, He is Lelouch Vi Britannia, a Britannian prince in reality, but he used Lelouch Lamperouge to cover his true identity. He hated his Britannian side because of what his father, Charles, had done to him and to Nunally. So after obtaining the power of Geass from C.C., he tried his best to fight Britannia, creating an alter ego who is known as Zero, the champion of justice, and a whole organization to do it.

Lelouch created Zero as a symbol of justice, am I right? We also know that he hated his father so much, am I right? So what is my point here?

Lelouch used the image of Zero as the protector of the weak and the punisher of those who abuse. Lelouch succeeded in doing that. It was the same when he used his true identity, Lelouch Vi Britannia. He made his image tyrant, evil, and a man without mercy so that the whole world's hatred will be thrown upon him. He also succeeded in doing that. And the latter was the real purpose of Zero Requiem, using Lelouch Vi Britannia's image.

Going back to Episode 25 when Zero (Suzaku) was about to kill Lelouch Vi Britannia, Lelouch whispered to Suzaku, "You will be known as the man who killed Lelouch Vi Britannia, the evil emperor. You will become a hero.". The fact that he said Lelouch Vi Britannia and not me, it's different.

Analyze:

1. "You will be known as the man who killed Lelouch Vi Britannia, the evil empreror..."

2. You will be known as the man who killed me, the evil emperor..."

See the difference?

POINT: Lelouch used Lelouch Vi Britannia as a symbol. If he used me, which means his true self and his human body or existence, it is different.

It was also the same as Suzaku's case. All of them knew that Suzaku died (except Karen and Nunally, I think), but in realty it was just his name died, not his human body or existence. In the end, he was to grant a wish by Lelouch, that is to kill him and become the champion of justice, Zero. So there, Lelouch Vi Britannia did die in the end.

Code Geass R2: The Ending

After the scene where I became a crybaby, Karen narrated about what happened after Lelouch Vi Britannia's death followed by a short scene with C.C. Now, using the line that C.C. mentioned before the credits which was "neh, Lelouch?", I will try to explain again that it was Lelouch who she was talking to.

1. I know most of you have watched tons of anime, right? Usually in most anime, people who isn't important has a face and people who are important has their face hidden (to be msterious, I think). Like for example, a simple passerby can show his face. However, in this scene with C.C., the creators didn't show the face of the one driving the wagon. It zoomed in but only on the side, just about right to see the towel covering the face of the driver. Isn't it a little bit suspicious? If he was just a driver, they could at least show his face. And also, why zoom in the camera if the wasn't important? They could have done this: After showing the far view of the wagon, they could have made the camera jump directly to where C.C was, but no, they didn't.

2. Why was the driver's face all covered up? Yeah I can say that it was hot there but C.C. wasn't all covered. Her face was exposed, she didn't have a hat and she was also lying under the sun! Now that was suppose to be hot! So what was the reason for the driver of the wagon to cover all of his face? Hat and towel on the head to cover what? Hmmm...

3. In the far view, although it was just a glimpse, we can tell that the driver of the wagon is not an old geezer. If you watch it closely, the driver looked like he is at the same age as Lelouch. This is a weak proof but try to see it yourself. :)

Lelouch Back to Being an Ordinary Person

Having through all the trouble in his life, of course he wanted to rest! Lelouch killed his image as Lelouch Vi Britannia for two purpose (that is what I think) and that is:

1. Zero Requiem - throw all the hatred of the world upon him and die with it.

2. Simple Life - He sacrificed his image to live a normal life with C.C. In the way I saw it, C.C. and Lelouch are M.U. (Mag-Un..hehe) or have feeling for each other.

I also think that he changed his name so that he won't be recognized by anyone else...or came back to being Lelouch Lamperouge.

So there it is! My personal opinion that Lelouch is indeed alive and immortal. If you have any questions, try figuring it out yourself...KIDDIN'! Just ask me if you have questions. I will try anwering it. Hihi! :P
