Unheard Voice, Unreachable Dream

"I'm just a nobody who now have a huge crush on a star. In the end, I will still be nobody...and she won't even notice." - VaLcRiSt

Out of the blue, I suddenly felt that I need to make a blog about the girl I like.

Okay, who's this girl whom I like? I won't mention her name but let's call her...cutie (oh! I'm so creative!). Anyway, I've met cutie in a convention just two months ago. I did meet her but I was nobody (you know what I mean). Okay, so she's quite popular but at that time I never had the idea who she was!

So what's with this girl? What made me like her? I know that there are millions of guys there who has a crush on her (or inlove with her) but hey, It's just me and I just want to share what I feel now. :) Anyway, going back to cutie, like what I've said earlier, I didn't have the slightest idea who she was. When a friend of mine told me that she was the sister of this famous cosplayer girl (I know you know her! ;p), I approached her and asked if I can take a picture of her and if I can have a picture with her and she obliged! And that started my little crush on her...and later on developed until she became my huge/ultimate crush ever!!! lolz!

It was just this morning that I felt that I'm starting to fall (which is unusual...VERY unusual for me) for cutie. Oh what a huge dream I have, so huge that even I can't imagine it! (It's like falling for an anime character! haha!) The reason for this was when I heard her angelic voice covering some songs (okay, that's it, you already know her, do you?). I really got "addicted" to her rendition of the song "Tala" that I listened to it about a gazillion times now (okay, I'm exaggerating...how about millions?) and I don't even get tired of it! :p I think she did better than the original singer! lolz!

One thing that I can say is sooner or later, this feeling will disappear but as for now, I'm cherishing every second of it!

Thigalog...What?

Being a Filipino, I always thought that we should know our language very well (the meaning, how it is pronounced, etc.). There are a lot of words in our language that originated from Spanish and Chinese, but little did we know, there are a lot more.

When my sister bought a book entitled "Malictionary", which was written by Ernie Zarate, I was amazed on how I didn't know our language very well. There are some common words that we use everyday that we don't even know the meaning. It may be a cussword or a vulgar word, but since we don't know the meaning (and because we heard our nanay/kapitbahay/lola say those words), we just imitate it and use it based on they used it.

To give you an idea what are the contents of this book (there are actually two volumes already), I will put here some words that I found funny, entertaining, and at the same time, educating. Enjoy! I will also put here some English words as bonus!

MALICTIONARY - A compilation of often misused, misprounounced, misspelled and misunderstood words and expresssions by the Filipino, and other curious trivia. by Ernie Zarate.

almusal - The Spanish word "almozar" from which this was adapted is actually "to lunch." Before the Americans came, the Insulares and Peninsulares led such profligate lives, they would stay up late at night for their social activities, usually oversleeping the next day so that their first meal would be taken at lunch hour. "Desayuno" is the Spanish word for "breakfast." It might be of interest to note that in Mexico, "breakfast' is also called "almozar."

arnibal - Time changes all things it seems. Take this, for example. This used to be "almibar"

asintado - Nothing to do with marksmanship or shooting. It has somthing to do with fixing of fitting together things like valves, etc. The Filipino translation is "lapat."

atrebida - Nowadays, most people use this in the context of being "pakielamera" although the real meaning of "atrevida" is "sassy, cheeky."

azotea - Spanish term for "flat roof" not "balcony."

Bahala na! - The old folks claim that this is just a shortened phrase for "Bahala na si Bathala!" (God will take care of things!"), and probably because it sounds redundant, "si Bathala" was lost in the course of time.

balde
- A Mexican word for "bucket or pail." The Spanish word for this item is "cubo."

balintataw - "Pupil of the eye" or "eyeball"

banketa - In Spain, "banqueta" would mean "stool"; but to Mexicans and to the MMDA chairman, it also means "sidewalk."

batya - Originally, this word was "batea" which we imported from Mexico.

biloy - Did you know that this is the Filipino term for "dimple"?

bokong-bokong - "ankle."

champorado - Another Mexican import meaning "chocolate rice porridge."

cono (conyo) - Would you believe I found this word in my Spanish dictionary? It is the vulgar word for "female genital" or the direct translation of the uncouth English word "cunt." And if said in anger, it is the interjection "for fu**s sake."

diyahe - Another of of those baligtad words of the sixties. From "hiya," it became "yahi," then later "dyahe."

ebak - Said to have been invented by biology students from the medical term "evacuation of bowels."

galanggalangan - Tagalog for "wrist." "Pulso" is the Spanish term.

ganado - Nothing to do with "enthusiasm." It may either mean the past tense of "win" of just plain "livestock" or "farm animals."

gulunggulungan - Adam's apple.

gurang - Another non-Tagalog word now accepted in day-to-day conversational Filipino, from Bicol meaning "old person."

harana - From the Spanish "jarana" but which means, "to go out of town." Nothing musical about going out of town.

itsa - This is from the Spanish "echar", "to throw."

kalaykay - is Chinese for "rake." "Lugi, hikaw, lugaw," and "lumpia" are also Chinese imports

kamote - And Andean and Mexican word we adopted to mean "sweet potato."

mungkahi - is of Chinese origin meaning "suggestion or proposition."

nene - The Spanish term fo "baby boy." In Tagalog, however, "Nene" is the affectionate appellation for girls.

palengke - This cannot be found in many Spanish dictionaries because it is actually an Aztec term ("palenque") for "meeting place." "Mercado" is the Spanish word for "market."

panghinuki - "toothpick."

pasmado - This has nothing to do with sweaty or trembling hands. In Spanish, it means "astonished, astounded."

pustiso - This is not limited to "false teeth." "Postizo" can also mean anything artificial like "hairpiece" for example.

que se joda - A Spanish-speaking friend is appalled by the flagrant use ot this phrase on TV and radio. Its Filipino usage is "come what may" or "devil may care." But in Spanish, the root word "joder" is the vulgar term "to copulate," or, to be blunt about it, "to f**k!" The phrase therefore literally means "What the f**k"!

regla - This has nothing to do with the monthly period of females. The more popular meaning of the word in Spanish is "rule, ruler."

sanggano - The original Spanish word "zangano" does not mean "though guy." It means "lazy oaf."

siyota - Intentional corruption of bata (boyfriend or girlfriend). Some insist it comes from "short time," a term to mean "a few hours of more than intimate stay at a motel."

tansan - Did you know that this was the name o fa soft drinks bottling factory in the 1930's, which was probably the first to use metal bottle caps in our country?

*tuna - In Spanish, this is not a fish -- this is a kind of "edible cactus." The edible fish is "atun." No kidding! Check it out!

*tonting - Street language for the sex act.

ENGLISH

boondocks - From the Tagalog word "bundok." A U.S. slang word brought over from the Philippines to the mainland by American soldiers at the turn of the 19th century.

can goods - Wrong. It should be "canned goods."

cellphone - Short for "cellular phone." Actually, it is only in here in the Philippines that this term is used. In other countries, the accepted expression is "mobile phone" or simply "mobile."

coupon bond - "Bond paper" should be the proper term.

Grand Prix - "grahng' PREE." WARNING: Do not pronounce as it is spelled. Otherwise you will be saying "Big Penises."

ice tea - Wrong. This should be "iced tea."

moral lesson
- Redundancy. "Moral of the story" is better.

officemates - Use "co-workers" or "colleagues."

soft drink - Americans call this "soda pop" or simply "soda."

Worcestershire - "WOOS tuhr shr." If you still cannot pronounce it right, say "Perrin's Sauce" na lang.

Z - This letter is pronounced "zee" not "zey."

* - words with * came from Malictionary 2

--->edited some entry to make it short.

==========================================

There are some of the entries that I find interesting and educating. I hope you enjoyed reading! I'll try to put here some entries from Malictionary 2.

I also read something in a book (I forgot the title) about this word/name:

Randy - this may seem a very innocent word/name for us but if you go to a certain country in Europe (*France, Great Britain, or Germany) and introduce yourself, "Hi! I'm Randy.", it's like saying, "Hi! I'm horny!"

*I'm not sure about what country it is. I'll just have to look at that book again.

USERER

USERER - yu-suh-rer., (syn., user.) - A term invented by a friend of mine. It means
1. a person who uses others for his/her own sake then discards you like a toy when he/she doesn't need you anymore;
2. a person who will only appear when she/he needs you;
3. a person who will make bola to you like a kulangot for you to teach him/her something that he/she wants to know.

If you have a friend like this, please discard them right away...before they do it to you.

USERER. bow.

A friendly reminder from your friendly neighborhood magician...

It's CHRISTmas, not SANTAmas!

Christmas. It is the time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, but it seems to be forgotten.

I was watching Family Feud earlier when a survey question said, "Ano ang pinaka-popular na character tuwing pasko?" I just shook my head when I saw the top answer...SANTA CLAUS. Of course I was expecting of it but when the second answer appeared, I just laughed..RUDOLF! Is this really funny or what? I thought the first answer was Jesus Christ, but yeah, Christmas = Santa Claus...but RUDOLF ranking 2nd?! What the? Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer is more popular than Jesus Christ? And Jesus Christ ranking 3rd?! ARE YOU KIDDIN' ME?

Seriously, even Jesus ranking 2nd is not right. I just remembered a text message that I got. It was a conversation between Santa and Jesus, here it goes:
----------------------------------
Santa: Anong problema Jesus?

Jesus: Selos ako sa'yo eh.

Santa: Bakit naman?

Jesus: Kasi ikaw ang inaabangan ng mga tao 'pag pasko.
----------------------------------

I don't know if this was suppose to be a joke and if so, it was not funny at all.

Remember why we celebrate Christmas. It's for the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, not the birth of Santa and Rudolf.

*I wasn't sure about the spelling of CLAUS in Santa Claus Thanks Xila for correcting!"

(See! I can't even spell Santa Claus correctly! Hahahaha!)

::Linger::

Why is it that whenever I hear this song, I remember my ex-girlfriend?

Right now it's playing in my mp3 and I want to press the next button but at the same time I don't want to.

Well, as the chorus says, "Do yo have to let it linger?" It's lingering. Her memories are coming back to me right now. Our memories together. Darn.

I have moved on, but the memories are there.

...do you have to let it linger?

(emo mode)

Merry Christmas!!!

Wow! I never thought that I'd be doing a blog again at this site. Well, it can't be helped 'cause this is my main blog anyway.

First of all, I want to greet everybody a Merry Merry Christmas (hoping that there is really someone reading my blogs).

This Christmas is the same as my Christmas last year. There's nothing to do here. I didn't go to mass too. I don't know what's with me.

Hmm, see, I can't think of something to write again so I might as well end this blog.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too!

I'll come back if I have thought of something good to type here. ^_^

Bum

Whoa! I'm starting to feel like a bum. Seriously.

I'm jobless right now because I quit my job. I suddenly realized that night shift is not my thing. Why or how did I say that I am a bum now? Here are the proofs:

1. I'm jobless
2. I sleep at around 3 am and the only thing that I am doing is going online.
3. I wake up at around 11:30 am to 12:30 pm to eat my lunch and then watch "Wowowee" and then I will go online.
4. After I go online at around 2 to 3 pm, I'll sleep again till 6 pm.
5. IWhen wake up at around 6 pm, I eat my dinner, watch news and then go online again at around 9 or 10 pm until 3 am.

(repeat from no. 3)
(in between, I pick up my deck of cards and practice my sleights)

The only difference is that bums does not have money while I do. Bwahahaha!

The only thing is that I feel pathetic that I don't have a job. I quit my job because I want to review for the upcoming LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers) but see, I'm doing nothing! Hahaha! Crap.

It's 2 am and the only thing that I am doing is staring at someone's pic and at my Friendster homepage. See, I'm a bum with money. Hahaha!

(BUMS - people who are jobless and does not have money. Their favorite hangouts are inside their house, or infront of a Sari-Sari store)

Well, that is my own definition of Bum. ^_^

NaDa

No, that's not my name. I can't seem to think of a good title for this because this blog is just another nonsense.

I can't say that this is a blog. I don't know. I just wanted to post something here.

Have you heard that Pacquiao vs Dela Hoya match has been cancelled? Yeah. Manny didn't approve of the pay. I don't know. I think he is fighting for himself and for money, not for our country. (play Para Sa'yo Ang Laban na 'To music here...then puke on his CD)

But for me, I don't really care. I'm just sick of him. There are many athletes here in our country on which our government should recognize. They just love Manny because they can get money from him (see how both rhymes?). I also don't care because Manny doesn't give me money.

And I think our government sucks. It does.

Anyway, it's 2 in the morning. Finished talking with G. She's nice, cool and a cowgirl (not literally). She said she's not pretty but I think she is? What do you think? ,,,wait, you don't even know her! lol!

Yes! I'm gonna see her again tomorrow! (not G). And we're going to mass together! ::smile smile::

My sister went to Singapore earlier. I wish her all the luck!

By the way, NAIA Terminal 3 is sooooo cool! I like it! It's humongous! It's soooo big! It felt like we were in Singapore!!! Amazing structure. I was trying to find the collapsed part of the building (the ceiling), but I didn't see any. I wonder where it could be? Hmmmm....

Wow, this is so amazing! I actually have developed this blog! Hahaha!

That's all for now. Good night...

oh, please add my YM so that we can chat sometimes.: jhay_cardtrix

Sore Throat, Reader's Digest, etc.

I have a sore throat. The only way I can express my feeling is by writing a nonsense blog like this.

I did not go to work today because I can't speak. And as you know, my work needs to have a good voice and not like a voice that is similar to Darth Vader. Imagine Darth Vader saying this, "Thank you for calling. My name is Darth Vader (HOOH--HAAAHH), how may I help you today? (HOOH-HAAAH)" Seriously, I can't imagine! Hahaha!

Oh, I just want to say that I submitted a joke at Reader's Digest and I hope they'll pick it to put in one of their columns in any category they would like (All In A Days Work, Laughter is the Best Medicine etc., so that I can have an instant $100!) +crossing fingers+

It's 12 in the morning and I'm still up! Well, what do you expect, my work is 11:30 pm to 8:30 am so I am used to staying late because my body clock uses American Time and I am using Mountain Time Zone! haha!

That's all for now. I am just sharing what I feel today. I'll post this later becasue the hours in my internet card is gone! haha! Thanks for reading my nonsense blog! :)
