Reminiscing Playstation One Games

I love playing computer games especially console games. I've played from family computer to Sony Playstation and Playstation 2. With all the new gaming consoles out now which has a graphics close to reality, I can't help myself but to reminisce and play the "old school" games from Sony Playstation a.k.a. PS One.

I have listed before my Top favorites from anime to my favorite sce21nes. Now it's time for me to make a countdown of my 10 favorite Playstation games. Okay, I'm having a hard time choosing my 10 favorite games because I finished tons of games so here goes nothing...

10. Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories (1 Disc)

I'm a fan of this anime! So when I found out about the game, I tried playing it. It's just a simple game but it's fun to play. I'm an RPG player but I still love this game. Simple and enjoyable. :) Exodia is VERY difficult to draw. The chance of completing Exodia's parts is like a chance that a poker player draws a Royal Flush.

9. Crash Bandicoot: Warped (1 Disc)

This is the very first Crash Bandicoot game I have ever played. Odd isn't it? I started from 3 then backwards. Among the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, I like Warped (3) the most. Crash has a lot more abilities and weapons like the Wumpa fruit canon. The enemies are difficult to defeat compared to its predecessors. Not only that, aside from Crash, players can also play as Coco Bandicoot in some stages. Crash Bandicoot: Warped is very fun to play and is suited for all ages. :)

8. Duke Nukem: Time to Kill (1 Disc)

If Arnold Schwarzenegger has a doppelganger, it would be none other than this guy, Duke. He looks a lot like Arnold except that Duke has a blond hair and a lot of women! This is an action adventure game set in the world or running suicide pig bombers and big headed aliens. It has also a wide arsenal of weapons including boots and knives! It has a lot of powerful weapons ranging from RPG (rocket launcher type of weapon), flame thrower (to toas those pig cops for an instant lechon baboy), a pipe bomb which can be detonated at will, a freezer (to freeze everything including yourself!), and a whopping dynamite in which if you hold too long, will make yourself a suicide bomber too! This game isn't for children because of its gory nature. The multiplyer is fun, you should try it too! :)

Tip: Use the INVINCIBILITY cheat code and hold a dynamite and run like hell! You'll be an immortal suicide bomber and match that running pig bomber! It's fun! lol!

7. Valkyrie Profile
(2 Discs)

Long before Sqauresoft and Enix volted (what a choice of word! XD) in, Enix had developed a very good Role-Playing game set in a 2D world. It's a very nice game with lots of characters. Everything should be perfect if Enix didn't make this game a side-scroller. Because it's a side-scrolling game, the "exploration" value of this game lessened. Players can explore dungeons although it's limited. Towns can also be explored but has only limited places to go. But the battle is good. To make the charactes attack, the player should press the buttons in which characters are placed.

The characters' formation is like a PS One button layout (x,square, circle, triangle). It also has a combo system which if maxed out, can make one or two characters deal extra damage. If you want to see and experience the game, just buy or borrow it and you'll see why this game only ranked 7th on my list.

6. Tenchu 2 (1 Disc)

I picked Tenchu II rather than Tenchu for a couple of reasons. First is Tatsumaru isn't in the first game. Second, Ayame is sexier than the previous installment. And third, the gameplay itself. It's much more fun to play than the first game. The levels are also tougher than the previous one. There are also new ninja weapons to choose from which will make a player a real ninja. Oh, another thing, Rikimaru, Ayame, and Tatsumaru can now hide their swords rather than holding it while running. This makes them a fast runner than the previous game. Isn't it great? :D

5. Metal Gear Solid (1 Disc)

OMG! Solid Snake only ranked 5th on my list?! What the hell happened?! Actually, I'm not really a fan of this type of game but because of its "secrets" and "extras", I enjoyed the game. It's a very challenging game which will make a player use his mind and his tactics on how to deal the situation presented by the game. It's like Tenchu in a way that Snake shouldn't be spotted at any cost because it will make a player's life miserable if Snake is spotted. Anyway, boss fights are really challenging although they have their weaknesses which is not really easy to figure out. Finishing the game is very rewarding because of the tough times that the player shared with Snake. This game also has it's New Game+ feature. This means that
the player can start a new game with your weapons still in you and as for MGS; some kind of an automatic cheating. (See guides for this one). Anyway, this game is action-packed! You
should play it.

Tip: In New Game+, players will receive the stealth gadget (which makes Snake invisible to patrolling soldiers), and a bandana which gives Snake unlimited ammo. This depends on the decisions made by the player. To get both, play the game 3 times. :)

4. Final Fantasy VII (3 Discs)

The most popular Final Fantasy game in the whole world! Seriously! Do I even need to introduce this game to you aside that this is the prequel of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and the sequel of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core? This is where Cloud and Sephiroth became famous. Okay, so the graphics sucks (released in 1997), but mature gamers won't mind its graphics because the story of this game rocks harder than a rock band. Okay, just play it.

Why did it rank only 4th in my list? You'll know why...

3. Suikoden II (1 Disc)

The game in which even if played 10 times won't make a player throw this game away. It has such a high replay value because it has so much to discover. There are lots of side quests from collecting sounds sets, to participating in a cooking contest! With characters more than 100, what more can a player ask for? Okay, just play it. JUST PLAY IT!!! lol!

2. Chrono Cross (2 Discs)

One of Squaresoft's finest! With more than 40 characters to play, the replay value is so high. The game has 2 alternate worlds with different storylines but the same characters. It has a unique battle system. I can't explain it well because I'm not good at explaining things but it's different from the battles of the FF series. This ranked 2nd on my list because it has a wonderful gameplay and storyline. The replay value is because of the New Game+ feature. To be able to have all 42 characters, the player should play the game thrice (New Game++). In each new the stats of the characters remain.

Cool thing: When starting a New Game+, there is a new device which can make the player control time. Hold L2 for slow motion gameplay and press R2 to make it go fast forward. Pretty cool if combined together for some attacks. :D

1. Final Fantasy IX (4 Discs)

And the winner is FF IX!!! Although this game has no New Game+ feature, it's still fun to play because it also has a lot of sidequests. One of which is making a chocobo evolve to be a gold chocobo! What does this do on the game? While making the chocobo evolve, the player will go treasure digging and some of the treasures found are rare cards and Zidane's ultimate weapon. Of course, the movie-like cutscenes are still breath taking as ever. The card game is also a reason that the player should stick their eyes on the TV for a long time. Collecting cards, digging treasures, collecting rare items, and a lot more! The story is great (makes sense than FF8). So what are you waiting for? Play it now! :D

ALMOST BUT DIDN'T MAKE IT TO MY FAVORITES

**Bust-A-Groove**

I enjoy this game because I love to dance. I love the songs here too. I remember when I was in grade 6, my classmates and I always have a bet with this game. Who was the best among us. Of course, since I was a game addict before, I knew a lot of high score moves so I won most of the time. :D

Okay, reminiscing is good. Like right now, I'm gonna play Chrono Cross in the laptop (yeah, I don't have PS One, but I have an emulator.) :D If you

are sick and tired of the senseless games that is out of the market today, go back to the ever reliable PS One. :D
